Summit was incorporated in Delaware in 1996 and is a wholly
owned subsidiary of Apex
Insurance Agency, Inc. (VA.) Apex is a managing general
agent and wholesale broker selling a variety of insurance
programs on an admitted and non-admitted basis. Apex is principally
owned by Penn
Independent Corporation (PIC) a privately held insurance
holding company in Hatboro, PA.

Staff
Our staff is comprised of full time attorneys, senior claim
examiners averaging 15 years of experience, on site information
technology services and a full administrative support staff.
All claim professionals must attend continuing education courses,
are licensed nationwide and have experience with complex liability
and coverage issues. Summit will partner with your company
to meet the new challenges of the increasingly complex litigation
and claim handling environment.
Summit
staff is principally located in the Hatboro office. Several
of our senior claim examiners work from their home locations.
We also employ a nationwide network of contract employees
and consultants that allows us to service clients nationwide.
Our examiners have worked for major insurance carriers.

Financials
Summit’s litigation management, settlement techniques,
and legal expertise ensures that litigation costs, loss payments,
and claim handling expenses are as low as possible.
Summit
maintains Errors & Omissions coverage with limits of $5M
and a Fidelity bond with limits of $5M. Summit administers
draft accounts on behalf of several entities.

Current
Book of Business
Summit represents over 5,000 school boards, public entities
and police departments for Selective Insurance Company and
General Star National Insurance Company. We represent ERIE
Insurance Company on a nationwide Employment Practices Liability
Program (EPLI). We represent Selective on a nationwide Dental
Malpractice Program. We represent Signet Star Reinsurance
Company and Legion Insurance Company on Umbrella/Excess liability
program(s) covering all lines of business.
